nephew's socks

So the toddler socks were too small for Aiden but he loved them anyway. He ran around the house and slide on the floor. He got such a kick out of them. It was entertainment for all.

busy

I have knitted, torn apart and knitted again.
It seems as though I cannot take two steps forward without taking two steps back first.

Anyway, I finished my toddler socks but I have no clue if the sizing is correct.
My nephew came home from Bar Harbor yesterday and I will need to go measure him.

I'm working on a sweater for him as well. I am attempting to modify a pattern for a 6-12 month old to be the correct size for a 2 year old. I have torn many a row out but I beleive that I'm halfway done now. The hard part is over.

The baby bunting, trouble project has yet to take off. I barely have a dozen rows complete. I have no desire to work with the fancy yarn though the end product is very adorable.

My love, Sean, is begining to realize that I have a problem with knitting...he has yet to see the new yarn.

trade-off

Is it normal to give up sleep for knitting.
I keep telling myself that I'll stop after this row but I can't stop there.

I finished one toddler sock yesterday and got half way though the second.
I'm using Regia 6 ply nordic and it stripes in bold primary colors. I had to go to the end of the skein to find the color change that I started the first sock with though. good thing this is a toddler sock. Otherwise the stripes wouldn't match up.

Don't know what to knit with the middle section of the skein...

knitting class

So I have been patient and held off on finishing my reynolds no seam baby sweater and regia adult socks at the request of my knitting teacher. She wants to show me how to seam the sweater and do the kitchener stitch. I look at these half finished projects and desire to see the end produce but I want to learn the proper technique.

I started the toddler socks in a self striping yarn that I bought at a discount without the label. I'm searching for the info....

knit on.

Impatience

So I ripped out all of my work. It was eating at me.

Mistake in second regia sock

So I ribbed where I should have knitted a row about 1.5 inches into the cuff. Then I knitted 2.5 more inches before I noticed the mistake. The mistake row falls on a purple row and is noticable because it is raised. My family tells me to leave it and I feel that it is a lot of work to redo. The socks are a gift and the first one is pure perfection. I am torn.

What would you do?

second Regia sock

I started the second adult Regia sock last night.
I learned a valuable lesson while attempting to match up the self patterning yarn.
If you windle a skein of parrterning yarn into a ball for one sock you must do so for the other.
I got an inch into the ribbing and found that my stripping pattern was the exact opposite!!!

It was a bummer to rip the all of my work apart but that's how it goes sometimes.

Happy knitting

Can't take them anywhere....

So the family went out to Pat's Pizza for dinner last night. At the end of the dinner Sean and Aaron started trying to convince each other to give the other one a piggy back ride out of the resturant. Next thing I know the two of them are on the floor with a table flipped almost over and the Aaron screaming "Daddy!!!!".

How embarassing...for them more than me.

I instantly walked away from them while they gather themselves and reesembled the tipped table and it's contents. I guess what happen was that Sean went to fake lean on Aaron and she collasped from under him cause them both to tumble to the floor. Wonderful manors for a resturant huh?

It gave us all a chuckle for many hours though.

I explained to the 12 and 33 yr olds that this is the reason why I do not take the two of them with me food shopping. Just think, adult in shopping cart being pushed by child and crashing. You can imagine I'm sure. At least they have fun with each other.

Adult regia socks

So I finished one of my adult regia socks.
I'm waiting for knitting class on Tuesday before I stitch the toe.
I have done it before but my teacher wants to show me exactly how to do the kitchener stitch.

I'll start the other sock tonight.

Here are pictures ")

empty house

So the family has gone fishing. I've feed the baby in my belly. Chores are done. Blogs are read. (I just read about the different types of ways to decrease and how it varies from WS to RS. ) I had been pondering why my pattern for socks says to K2TBL and other say SSK. I guess that next pair of socks I'll try a different type of decrease to see for myself.

Time to knit!!!!! Happy knitting all.

Mainely Knitting

I love to knit!

In the past I made scarves without patterns but now that a local quilting/yarn/basket shop has classes that I am attending I am learning how to create other items from patterns.

So far I have made two pairs of baby socks and one sweater. I am currently working on a baby bunting and an adult pair of socks.

I also crochet and have a baby blanket in the works.

Here are a few pictures of the socks and sweater. My teacher , Cindy, wants me to wait to sew the seams up on the sweater until I see her again. Classes are every two weeks so I had to use stitch holders and markers to put the sweater together so that I could show it off a bit. Hope it inspires...

The yarn that I used is a self patterning opel worsted wool and I love it! I have another skein but I'm not sure what I would like to make with it. I still have some left from the first skein and would like to make a matching hat.
